2015-2016 SBDM Election Results (from April 29th)
Christin Helmuth ~I am a parent of a rising freshman and senior at Bryan Station High School. I participate in every facet of school support available for parents. I am the current treasurer of the Bryan Station Middle School PTSA and am serving my second year as a Bryan Station High School SBDM Council parent representative. Prior to serving on the council, I was active in several SBDM Council committees. I take my role on the Council very seriously and work with my council members to ensure that our students are experiencing the highest quality education and our teachers the highest quality environment in which to teach them. I hope that you will honor me with another opportunity to serve.
Stephen Skubik-Peplaski has lived in Lexington since 1977 and graduated from both Tates Creek HS and the University of Kentucky. He is a Software Engineer with over 30 years experience. He is a current member of the Bryan Station High School SBDM, has served on the PTSA and is a current member of the Sullivan University IT Advisory Board. Stephen has two children in the Spanish Immersion Program; his son Cameron is attending BSHS, and his daughter Claire will be attending BSHS in the fall.
Melissa Murphy would love to serve as a Parent representative for the Bryan Station High School Site Based Decision Making Council. I am mother of 3 children, 2 of which are Fayette County Public School students – Terrance (9th grade, Bryan Station) and Makari (4th grade, Meadowthorpe). I have a sincere interest in the school-based decision-making process. I have served on a SBDM council for the last 4 school years and I have had the opportunity to learn more about the policy-making and the system each year I have served. I believe my legal background and years of community service would be beneficial as a SBDM parent representative and I would appreciate your vote on April 29, 2015.
Juan Castro ~ My daughter Elena will be a senior at Bryan Station next year. All my kids have attended Bryan Station . Two have graduated already and are in college. In the past, I have been involved with Bryan Station Band for almost 6 years. I have served as Treasurer, Vice President and two term as President of the Bryan Station Band Association. Furthermore, I am a citizen representative on the Committee on Equal Opportunity for the Council on Post-Secondary Education. I have also been involved in many non-profit organization that advocate for education. I currently serve as the chairman of the Lexington Hispanic Education Association. This organization hosts a leadership development camp for middle school Hispanic students every year. I took a year off from working with any organization at Bryan Station due to work commitments. I believe the SBDM is the right organization to serve as my last child finishes her high school education.
