Regional Art Show – Our students competed against schools across the Bluegrass region. These student’s work won awards and will advance to the state competition: Cory Banta (3rd place in both Photography and Mixed Media), Autumn Joslin (2nd place in painting), Emily Rodgers (2nd place in textile/fibers), Anna Grey (3rd place in sculpture) and Joe Schwarz (2nd place in digital media). The artwork will be on exhibit in the Giles gallery at EKU until March 25. There will be a closing reception and awards ceremony on the 25th.
KMEA Solo and Ensemble Festival – Ariel Mink and Jordan Durham as soloists and our advanced men’s ensemble received a distinguished and are recommended for State Festival (top honor). Woodford Jones and Josh Saylor both received a distinguished rating in solos. Steven Olson and Bryanna Stead both received a high proficient rating in solos. Brandy Ortiz, Karena McGuire and both received a proficient rating in solos. Joy Harper received a high apprentice rating in solos. Our beginning women’s ensemble received a proficient rating.

SKILLS USA Aviation Competition – These students represented BSHS with honor: Matt Smith, Dustin Davis, Jordan Richardson, Jarae West, Jonathon Ortiz, Nick Waun
Swim Competition – The men’s and women’s teams turned in some impressive performances finishing 7th and 12th overall, respectively. Both teams had several individuals and relays that qualified to compete in finals on Saturday. Jackson Lucas, Isaiah Lewis, Evan Rushing, Kyle Settles, Cameron Brewer, and Ross Wilson will represent Bryan Station in the 200 Medley and the 200 Freestyle relays at the State Meet on the 24th/25th. Both Cameron Brewer and Ross Wilson will compete in 2 individual events as well as their respective relays.
STEM FAIR – Congratulations to Joe Schwartz for winning the Graphic Design and Innovative Product categories. In addition, Sam Flechler, Graham Hough, Oscar Maldonado and Tyler Pyles for winning FIRST PLACE in the High School Technology competition for their Eco-friendly Computer. They will now go to State and compete.
Track Competition – Along with all of the great results we’ve had both academically and athletically, I wanted to share with you that 23 boys and girls on the track team travelled to Ohio State University this past weekend to compete at an indoor track meet against some of the best high school athletes in Ohio. The defenders had some great performances.
